CHITRADURGA: A Chitradurga court on Monday ordered immediate custody of Murugha Mutt seer in a child sexual abuse case. The non-bailable order comes after the Karnataka High Court granted bail to the seer on November 8, and was released four days ago in a separate POCSO case. The seer is facing allegations of sexually abusing teenage girls who were residing in the Mutt’s hostels. Since the seer did not seek bail in the second case, the Second Additional District Sessions Court in Chitradurga ordered his immediate custody. The second case pertains to a woman accusing the seer of sexually assaulting her teenage daughter who lived in the Mutt’s hostel. The woman was working at the Mutt. The sessions court has summoned the seer to respond to the charges against him ahead of the framing of the charges by the court to begin the trial.
