CHENNAI: Transport Minister SS Sivasankar on Monday said that the State Transport Department will operate special buses from Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Nagercoil, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi to Tiruvannamalai for Karthigai Deepam (Nov 26) and full moon day. The State Express Transport Corporation would operate 50 AC-seater and sleeper buses from Chennai to Tiruvannamalai and back from November 25-27 (Saturday-Monday). Special buses will be operated from Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Madurai and Coimbatore from November 24 to 26. Tickets can be booked on www.tnstc.in or on TNSTC app. More buses will be operated based on demand. Karthigai Deepam is celebrated for 10 days each year at the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai. Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the town from across the State, Karnataka and Andhra.
