Tension prevailed at the Collectorate on Monday after a group of AIADMK councillors alleging bias walked out of a district panchayat committee meeting. The meeting led by the committee chairman Uma Maheshwari was supposed to begin at 10 am, but was delayed by two hours. It raised a lot of eyebrows as it took place under locked doors and members of the press were denied entry. Following this, AIADMK councillor Kumar questioned why the meeting had to happen in secrecy and said, “The chairman is not transparent and is also very biased about the finance and project allocation for various constituencies.”
