A 35-year-old woman of Kunjan Vilai near Uvari of Tirunelveli district was arrested on Monday after being charged with killing her husband Singaravelan (40). The accused has been identified as Jeyakodi, sources said. Earlier, Singaravelan, a daily wage labourer, who’s a chronic alcoholic, used to torture his wife Jeyakodi under the influence of alcohol. Such domestic problems often occurred and she suffered much agony. Unable to find a way out, Jeyakodi mixed chemical poison in a glass of drinking water and gave it to Singaravelan with an intention to kill him. After consuming the water, Singaravelan fell unconscious and died, sources said. Based on a complaint lodged by Mookammal, mother of the deceased, Uvari police filed a case and arrested her.
