Police on Sunday arrested Ambrose (28) under the Pocso (Protection of Children under the Sexual Offences) Act for impregnating a minor after promising to marry her in Ramapuram. The issue came to light when the 17-year-old delivered a child on September 20. Hospital authorities informed the police after which a case was registered. Police said that Ambrose was a canteen worker at a complex housing IT company in Ramapuram. The girl was working in a shop. Both were in a relationship. Two weeks ago, the girl was taken to a hospital, where it was found that she was 9 months pregnant. She subsequently delivered a child. Police arrested Ambrose for cheating the girl and for getting a minor pregnant. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
