As part of chalking out different plans to restore its past glory, a major project is being prepared for the comprehensive development of Kovalam, an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Kerala Minister for Public Works (PWD) and Tourism PA Mohammed Riyaz, sources said. Plans should be put in place to make Kovalam an international tourist destination, and prepared in such a way as to incorporate the heritage of the State, the Minister told the meeting. The project includes renovation of Kovalam Beach, Walkway, Lighthouse and Adimalathura Beach and provision of more infrastructure, he said.
