The new integrated terminal under construction at Chennai Airport will be flaunting a ‘skylight’ feature on its ceiling, capturing the attention of the visitors.

The natural light-harvesting technology has louvres fitted inside the six-metre diagram drum, which tilts according to the sun’s location, and is also equipped to cut down UV radiation.

Airport sources said more than 10 similar drums are likely to be fitted in the new terminal and would be an attraction among the passengers.

The skylight feature is a part of the airport extension work and sources said almost 80 per cent of the work has got completed.

The new terminal is expected to be inaugurated next year.
