TN Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan instructed district Collectors and GCC Commissioner to report any suspected or confirmed cases of monkeypox in the State, as many foreign countries have reported cases of monkeypox . He stated that health facilities should identify suspected cases of people who have unexplained rash. “Those who have travelled in the last 21 days to a country that has confirmed (or suspected) cases of monkeypox, or had contact with a person/people with confirmed (or suspected) monkeypox should be identified,” he said in an advisory. Clarifying that all suspected cases should be isolated at designated healthcare facilities, he pointed out that such patients should be reported to the District Surveillance Officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. “Follow all infection control practices while treating such patients.
